Our Beliefs
We can be described as a Church that is evangelical (we are a member of the Evangelical Alliance). This means that we believe the fundamental Christian teaching of the mainstream Church. Examples of this would be that:
We believe the Bible is true and is the Word of God.
We believe a person can only get to heaven by faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection for us (rather than by good works).
We believe in the trinity (that God is three in one-
We are also a charismatic Church, which means that we believe God gives spiritual gifts to Christians to be used for serving God, and for building up the Church.
During the service you may notice some of these gifts being used as we worship God. These may come in various forms: the gift of speaking in tongues (other languages, one has not learned) is used to pray to God and to worship Him freely. Sometimes a message is brought in tongues and someone will then bring an interpretation for the benefit of the congregation. Prophecy is where someone speaks out a message they believe God would say to us. There are many other gifts, including the gift of healing, words of knowledge, discernment etc. As you will no doubt notice, these gifts are beyond natural ability and are evidence of the presence of God with us. He longs to speak to us and to impact our lives.
